Palmetto Trail Conservancy Catenary Bridges

Table Rock, South Carolina

Over the span of a year, we replaced not one, but two bridges that had washed out due to record flood levels on the Eastatoe and Little Eastatoe rivers - on land managed by The Palmetto Trail project, just outside of Table Rock, SC.

The first bridge, over the Eastatoe River, was built entirely with milled black locust and black locust timber. It needed to be elevated above the hundred year flood mark; to achieve this height we erected a tall X-frame and long entry ramps. For the second bridge, over the Little Eastatoe, the natural terrain made elevation possible without additional gradation features. It was built with pressure treated lumber.
